Gather Together
I’m sending good wishes for you as we prepare for Thanksgiving.
· A belly filled with all the aromas and flavors you love
· A seat around the table with special people who bring you joy
· A heart filled with gratitude of what’s been, and what’s to come
I too am so grateful that we can once again actually be around the table with loved ones since last year most of us were not. (My oldest son, Evan came from San Diego, and thank goodness for great weather because we sat on the patio). I am sure we all agree that we no longer take the "little" things for granted.
I am also grateful to be able to walk again, in the Susan Komen walk for breast cancer happening this coming Sunday, November 21. I’ve walked 39 miles for five years in Santa Barbara and San Francisco, then I walked 60 over three days in 2018 and 2019 in San Diego.
I decided to walk 20 miles in San Diego this year instead of 60 (less training required and easier on this body).
I’m so grateful for all the support and donations, the knowledge of the many breast cancer patients and survivors who benefit, and the continued ability to take those steps and climb those hills! Each year I get so many lessons that I translate to life and business. One is that it is really hard climbing those hills...and, when we reach the destination, the view is spectacular and I feel so much joy for continuing to put one foot in front of the other. Can you relate to that in your life?
My husband, Clarke, has been to each of the seven walks to support me. When we first started, he created the slogan, "39 and then some wine" and he brought champagne for me and my team to toast as we removed our shoes and sat down!
This year, I don’t have team members joining me, but he’ll be there and I’m sure I’ll find some fellow walkers ready to toast and we’ll say "20 miles, now, champagne and smiles."
Thanksgiving is a verb. Let’s keep thanking and giving every day.
As Oprah Winfrey said, "Be thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more."
If you're up for a Thanksgiving challenge:
Write three (at least) things about yourself you are grateful for
Write three things (at least) you are grateful about your business and life
Since Thanksgiving is about not only gratitude but giving, write three ways you will gift yourself (i.e. cut yourself some slack) and someone else
As always, I'd love to hear from you. How I can help you unleash your inner champ?
Happy Thanksgiving
