Blindspots Breakthrough
Have you unpacked your blind spots within your organization?
Are you ready for a breakthrough to heighten possibilities?
Are you wondering how and why you should or would, or could remove blindspots?
I’m excited to invite you to join me in a FREE Webinar brought to you by an organization I recently joined called The Sales Experts Channel, where I’ll help you assess blind spots (we all have them) and provide some tools to breakthrough.
Acknowledging your blind spots and recognizing bias is the first step to creating an inclusive culture in any solid organization. As you look around your customer service department and your sales teams, what do you see? Who is on your team?
How would you say they represent…?
● Age differences - some organizations recognize that the majority of their team are around the same age. If that’s the case with your team, how often are different perspectives exchanged? Probably not enough. It may be true that people connect and get along well because their age is a commonality, yet the ability to bring a variety of experiences from different generations is minimized.
● Ethnic differences - many organizations, if they’re being honest, see a lot commonality in appearance. And if there is more ethnic diversity within the organization, underrepresented groups are typically absent from the C-suite.
● Economic status - is it possible that most of the people you hire grew up in similar economic backgrounds? Obtained similar educational experiences and reside in comparable neighborhoods?
How do you think that meetings and productivity in your workplace might be impacted if you have people who had a variety of childhood experiences? How could a diverse workforce enhance the ability to serve your diverse customers and potential customers?
We could continue, but I think you get the point. Blind spots might just contribute to stagnation, whereas diversity has already proven to affect the bottom line and increase profits, innovation and employee morale.
Some companies want to evolve and just don’t know where to begin. There is injustice that must be addressed in our communities and even in the workplace. Some leaders fear that addressing social injustice equates to disrupting productivity or causes valuable employees to feel uncomfortable. Can I tell you that growth occurs by stepping out of the comfort zone? I’m sure you already know this.
You know that as a leader, your team looks to you for direction. So how do you provide the right direction, develop your customer service team to serve the community fairly while providing tools to those in your organization who have the responsibility to bring in new revenue?
Our country consists of a variety of people with diverse appearances, backgrounds and experiences. The best way to meet the needs of our community is to have our team represent the community.
Are you ready to establish a culture that fosters inclusion? How will you amplify the voices of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) team members, various ages, genders, economic backgrounds and yes, sexual orientations? These are questions to ask yourself as a salesperson, leader, and as an overall organization.
I encourage you to activate your commitment by starting with breaking through your blind spots. I’m certainly enjoying the partnerships I’ve developed so far with leaders and companies like yours who have committed to taking the first step to spearhead diversity and foster inclusion.
Once you unpack your blind spots, you are on your way to a breakthrough. You will transform your success into significance. It’s time to expand your own potential, and the possibilities of your team.
It’s time to ask yourself what’s behind some blind spots, shift the mindset from scarcity to abundance.
