Are You Planting Seeds or Growing Weeds?
March 2022
What’s growing in your garden?
As I reflect on my own thoughts in my business and personal life, I ponder whether I am planting the right seeds to achieve what I desire. I’m mindful of what is still rooting and growing, what’s sprouting into new opportunities, and, well, what’s just dead.
As you evaluate and reflect on your efforts, what’s energizing you and what’s draining you? If you’re being honest, what needs to be pruned or completely cut so that you can replace the negative energy with something (projects or people) that will embolden you? Springtime is a season of inspiration, new growth and invigoration.
At the end of 2021 I decided to try a new marketing approach with Live stream videos and continue through Q1. You know what, I'm enjoying generating content and I’m experiencing increased engagement. Because I've interviewed others on a couple of the programs, they, too, are enjoying reaching new people and sharing their expertise. We are discovering new possibilities. This effort is blooming. I encourage you to listen/watch the most recent event where we focused on Women's History Month and discussed Healthy Habits Women Can Adopt to Achieve Their Desires. I am still learning the ins and outs of the process, it's not perfected, it is is a process.

What weeds are growing in your mind, your life, your business, etc.?
I recently had to throw out a poor, struggling plant. Every week I’d water it, occasionally fed it, and still, yellow, and brown leaves were taking over with no bright new green leaves multiplying. I had to admit it was done, over, dead… and I tossed it. I replaced it with a beautiful billowy green vibrant plant that brings a smile when I see it. I've not discarded projects or activities, but I am mindful to continue to evaluate what's bringing the best Return and Reward.
Suddenly, you see the growth sprout above the ground
I recently taught a training program where the participants were willing (that's step one) to start with the fertile soil. They began to recognize and remove old habits and thoughts they held onto and embraced new thinking and techniques. They left the workshop feeling relieved to incorporate new ideas and energized to pass the fresh opportunities on to their team members and peers. Spring was in the atmosphere.
They learned how to "seed the clouds". This is a new term I learned from reading the book by Mark Batterson called Win The Day. "Seed the clouds" is translated as sow today what you want to see tomorrow. What I really loved about the participants was their determination to plant seeds of growth and opportunity in themselves, and others as they journey on the path toward success together.
Who can you inspire to build their skill and confidence?
My goddaughter decided that she was ready to transition from her brief teaching career to sales. She asked me to mentor her as she pursued new dreams and of course, I was honored she requested my assistance. I reminded her of the strengths I saw in her, was honest about the required daily grit, and cheered her on through some disappointment. I’m happy to say she landed a position she’s super excited about. She texted me a couple of days ago to tell me that she’s already closed her first sale! Now she says she was born to be in sales! She is like a blooming flower. Hooray.
Someone in your life is ready to bloom and they’re waiting for you to plant seeds of hope, encouragement, and truth on their path to success. Who is that one person (and many more, I’m sure) in your life that you will nurture as they venture on their new season of possibilities?
In the words of Robert Louis Stevenson: Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.
