Are You A Special Leader?

Have you taken the time to travel and take a vacation this summer? Whether you traveled to explore new places, vacationed to relax by the pool or ocean, or visited family and friends, I hope your time away was rewarding. Even while you were away, I'm sure you didn't forget your commitment and intention always to be the best leader you can be.

I recently came across an acronym that describes what I think are essential leadership traits and wanted to share it with you. As summer draws to a close, I wanted to share something light to refresh your mind as you gear up to conquer and achieve before the end of 2024. I think it's timely, too, as August has been deemed National Civility Month. Honestly, if we carry the principles mentioned below in the acronym daily, we will all feel and give joy.

This comes from a newsletter I subscribe to by Korn & Ferry. These traits will reinforce your intent to be a SPECIAL leader:

Selflessness- knowing that improving an organization begins with us
Potential-helping others exceed more than what they thought possible
Empathy- meeting others where they are to embrace who they are
Connection- adopting a horizontal mindset within organizations
Inclusion- creating a sense of belonging by consciously including everyone
Authenticity- ensuring others trust what we say, so they can believe in what we do
Love-  leading with our hearts as we seek to understand

As you review this acronym, I encourage you to choose those areas where you shine and continue to do so. Also, which areas can you improve on? I hope you are willing to intentionally decide what you can do to enrich the traits you can grow in.

Communication with different generations
One of the more critical components of leadership is communication. As I consult with people within organizations, a common theme seems to be the complexity of inter-generational communication. I thought this article would be valuable for you.
